Lenses suitable for presence detection

The dimensions given for range and area of coverage for the lenses in the lens database are valid when they are used with the PD-2200 or PD-2400 IR detectors.

This page and the following page show the lenses that are suitable for use in presence detectors. The following pages show lenses that may be required for special applications.

Lens no. 17 has a single-level detection field and detects presence over a maximum area of 50 x 50 metres.

Lens no. 34 has an 83-metre range, a unique 90° near zone, and a total of six detection fields on four levels.

Lens nos. 37, 41, 43 and 45 are a combined long-range and wide-angle design for room monitoring.

Lens no. 37 has a 140° wide-angle field for presence detection, combined with long-range coverage of 33 metres.

Lens nos. 41, 43 and 45 have 28 fields with an angle of 90° and a detection range of up to 83 metres.

Lenses suitable for presence detection

Lens 76Lens 47

Lens no. 47 permits maximum installation economy through unique combinations of detection fields. This lens can be used to achieve solutions that would normally require two or three detectors. It can cover one room and two corridors at a 90° angle.

Lens no. 76 gives the widest detection coverage for a wall-mounted detector. Lens no. 76 gives 140° “ultrawide-angle” coverage over a maximum area of 45 x 83 metres.

Lens nos. 15, 18, 51 and 52 give maximum coverage for a corner-mounted detector. They cover a 100° horizontal angle to provide more reliable detection in situations where it is not possible to mount the detector right in the corner. Lens no. 15 is supplied as a standard lens for detector PD-2200/PD-2400.

Lens 51 has a full 168 detection fields for reliable detection of very small movements, with fields divided into seven levels and with a vertical detection angle of 60°.

Lens 52 also permits reliable detection of small movements, with 48 detection fields on one level.

Lenses for special presence detection applications

Lens 101Lens 100

These lenses maximize presence detection where the detector is mounted in a corner.

The lenses in this section have a horizontal angle of 90–100° with detection on two or three levels. The maximum detection area is 66 x 66 metres.

Lens nos. 100 and 101 cover a 90° angle and are intended for general applications with a maximum detection area of 50 x 50 metres.

Lens nos. 25, 26 and 27 are specially designed for increased sensitivity, with a 90° horizontal angle and a maximum range of up to 66 x 66 metres.

These lenses are recommended when the ambient temperature is high, which can reduce detector sensitivity.

This character indicates the closest detection field that can be achieved with the detector installed at a height of 1.80 m and adjusted to -20°.

Lenses for special presence detection applications

Lens 36Lens 102

Lens nos. 36, 67, 77 and 102 have a horizontal field on one level. They are suitable for presence detection in a swimming pool, for example, where it is important that the movement of the water does not interfere with detection. These should be mounted at a lower height to ensure optimum detection and the minimum of dead zones.

Lens no. 36 is specially designed for long, narrow areas, such as corridors, aisles and along walls. It has a unique design with two long fields at 90° and one detection field straight ahead.

Lens nos. 65 and 66 give the widest detection coverage for a wall-mounted detector.

Lens no. 102, is intended for use with a corner-mounted detector to avoid interference from lower levels, such as in swimming pools.

Lens nos. 67 and 77 are intended for use with a wall-mounted detector. They are also suitable where there is a risk that the detector will be affected by interference from lower levels.

Lenses for special presence detection applications

Lens no. 30 is specially designed for long, narrow areas, such as corridors and aisles.

For maximum detection with this lens we recommend mounting at a height of 1.2–1.6 metres.

Lens nos. 42 och 48 can be used to provide solutions that would normally require two or three detectors. They provide a combination of long-range lens and wide-angle lens for room detection.

Lens no. 48 can cover one room and two corridors at a 90° angle.

These lenses are suitable for presence detection in curtain arrangements.

Lens nos. 53 and 54 are intended for corner mounting, providing 3 and 5 curtains respectively at a 90° angle.

Lens no. 55 is intended for wall mounting and provides 9 curtains at a 140° angle.

The vertical angle for these curtain lenses is around 60°, which permits higher mounting.

Lens nos. 35, 44 and 46 permit maximum installation economy through unique combinations of detection fields.

These combination lenses provide unique opportunities to achieve optimum detection.

For precise adjustment of the detection area, particularly in corridor applications, the BL-1 field indication diode can be used.

Lens nos. 70, 72, 20 and 104 also have a 20° raised field. This enables these lenses to cover a stairway while covering other detection duties at the same time. See also the following page for raised fields.

The raised fields of these lenses make it possible to detect an area such as a stairway at the same time as other areas.

Lens nos. 11 and 61 are basically the same as nos. 15, 65 and 76, with the addition of a short, raised field.

Lens nos. 10 and 60 have three presence detection fields and a raised field for stairway detection.

The raised fields are aimed 20° above the main field and provide 18 detection fields at 90°, with a maximum detection area of 25 x 25 m.

Upward detection
The 90° raised field is most effective with a corner-mounted detector.

The vertical adjustment and mounting height must be adapted to the specific area. Consideration must also be given to the ceiling height and optimum solution of other detection requirements when positioning the detector.

Raised fields can also be used to provide detection for a stairway and the movement of people between floors. See diagram below.

Please note!
IR detectors are only used on stairways when the AD-500/ 600 acoustic detectors are not suitable for some reason.

Lens no. 10 is intended for corner mounting and has a 100° horizontal angle, giving a detection area of 33 x 33 m.

Lens no. 60 is intended for wall mounting applications and has a wide angle of 120°, giving a maximum detection area of 33 x 62.5 m.

Please note!
To minimize the risk of false detection, raised detectors should not be mounted in locations where there is air conditioning or other risks of sudden changes in air temperature.

An acoustic detector with two additional microphones can provide detection for a stairway covering 16 floors.
